The Len Mattiace Foundation breaks the $677,000 mark in Fundraising
for Jacksonville charities
Over $478,000 Raised for the First Tee of North Florida
Dear Friends,
Thank you for taking interest in my Foundation page. The Len Mattiace Foundation is centered around a common theme here in Northeast Florida: the well-being, growth, and safety of our kids in our community. Through the game of Golf and a Stop the Bullying Campaign we are able to positively affect thousands of kids close to home.
Coming up this December is our 3rd Annual Pro-Junior Championship at TPC’s Sawgrass. Last year, we successfully raised over $13,000.00 to directly benefit The First Tee of North Florida. The year prior, we raised just over $10,000.00. With much enthusiasm, we embarked upon a journey for charity with hope of making this event an annual tradition to grow the game we all love.
It was an easy decision to choose The First Tee of North Florida to contribute our funds to because of its strong mentoring programs implemented to teach children life lessons and leadership skills with an opportunity to learn the game of Golf.
Initially, my team and I envisioned utilizing the game of Golf to create a fun atmosphere where some of the greatest to play the game can come together with our best rising juniors and college players. What better way to grow the game than to have our next generation pros spend a day on the greens with those who’ve already accomplished greatness? Not to mention an experience our juniors will never forget. With this strong collaboration supported by similar passions, The Pro-Junior Championship came to fruition.
Our unique format comprises 50 teams of two with a pro and a junior to make up each team. Every player pays an entry fee of $100-$150, which all goes directly to The First Tee of North Florida. Through corporate support, we raised $13,000.00 for the Pro Purse, $3,000.00 for a Pro’s Skins game, and a Hole-In-One prize. Over 50 prizes were donated for our juniors to compete for; to include gear, equipment, gift certificates and various other gratuitous items. As the players finish on the course, a Luncheon awaits them in TPC’s clubhouse, which consists of catered lunch, a guest speaker and a presentation of awards. Additionally, we host a Welcome Party the night before to kick-off the big event. Our Welcome Party and Luncheon truly compliment the event with a fun opportunity for our players to relax, socialize, and enjoy the game of Golf.
Additionally, I host a monthly golf event entitled “The First Tee Series” at different North Florida country clubs each time. This unique event matches local amateurs with local youth in a scramble format. Some of the youth come directly from The First Tee of North Florida. Our event on October 7, 2018 at the Ponte Vedra Country Club raised over $4,000 to go directly to The First Tee of North Florida. Our next event is scheduled to take place on November 4, 2018 at Timuquana Country Club.
Our Stop the Bullying Campaign is at the forefront of our mission. In an effort to counter the violence that’s plaguing our Jacksonville youth communities, we partner with Duval County schools to create after-school programs for students that are fun, interactive, engaging, and stress-free. Not only are we keeping our youth off the streets after school, we are raising awareness about the stark bullying epidemic by creating a safe environment structured to educate. These programs implement strategic lessons to help students understand diversity, all the while instilling a mindsight of inclusion.
On behalf of the organizations involved and our youth, please join me by contributing to the Len Mattiace Foundation so we can help develop our kids in a healthy, athletic, and safe environment.
With your contribution, I am confident we will be able to continue to grow the game of Golf and impact the lives of our children and communities.
